That was Spinal Tap

I have referred to this scene in my explanatory Why? section up ^ there, but perhaps there are still one or two people out there who have not seen This is Spinal Tap. For those few, Rob Reiner’s 1984 film is a glorious parody of an English heavy-metal band on tour in the USA. Suffice to say that it is less than triumphant. At one point, one of the band’s entourage has commissioned a life-sized polystyrene replica of a gigantic Neolithic triptych as stage scenery for their iconic stadium-rocker, Stonehenge. Sadly, there appears not to be an emoticon for ‘tongue firmly in cheek’, to put after that last sentence. Even if you don’t like metal, enjoy! For everyone else, I need only say, “Turn it up to 11”. Hell, it’s Friday.

Trivia note: Harry Shearer, who plays the pipe-smoking bass-player, Derek Smalls, is the voice of countless characters on The Simpsons.
