It’s a Japanese proverb: Time spent laughing is time spent with the gods. That’s a principle that I heartily endorse.

Japan’s mighty Nomura Holdings (founded 1925) has just published the agenda for its forthcoming Annual General Meeting. Masochists, who may want to scourge themselves by reading interminable glop, can visit the English language version of the Nomura website here, to see the many and various proposals to be voted on by (probably) three men and a dog, who are only there for the free eats. There are, however, a handful of delights including:

Proposal 5  – ‘Regarding limit on the ratio of personnel expense to income and giving three banzai cheers’

Two further proposals, for amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, seem to ask more questions than they answer:

Proposal 12 – ‘Regarding overhaul of basic daily movements’

Proposal 13 – ‘Regarding the name of the director’s position’
