I’ve met a few sluts

EDIT: NASA has featured frequently in the blog, for the successive errors, misfortunes and multi-gazillion dollar write-offs that have beset it in its jinxed attempts to explore Mars. So, congratulations are due this morning for the successful landing of Curiosity (more formally the Mars Science Laboratory), in a manoeuvre of stunning complexity. After 10 years in the planning, and a seven-month journey of 570m kilometres at a cost of $2.5bn, it has landed safely in Gale Crater near the equator and will soon be looking for evidence of past (and, indeed, present) life.
