So there you are, quietly running a highway service in Winchester, Hampshire. You learn that a road needs resurfacing in Waterlooville (apologies to any over-sensitive French readers), which is some 130 miles from the English border with Wales, and – as it happens – just a few miles down the road from Webwrights Towers. You ask your contractors to put up warning road signs, and what do they do? They do this:

Disregarding the small fact that there are road markings, and as one of the comments points out, there are probably more speakers of Urdu (or, for that matter, Finnish or Tagalog) in Waterlooville than there are speakers of Welsh!

[*] There are few Welsh-speakers in Hampshire.
