Ένα θερμό καλωσόρισμα σε νέους αναγνώστες μας στην Ελλάδα

As an Englishman, I don’t have a dog in the fight between the Democrat/Republican, blue state/red state, liberal/conservative, donkey/elephant, Obama/Romney, ‘socialist’/’patrician’, fruitcake/fruitcake polarities of the USA. I was heartened that Gov. Gary Johnson, for the Libertarian Party, managed to gather over a million votes on Tuesday, despite being drowned out by the sound of money being tipped down the advertising drain. A political movement which Wikipedia says “is considered by many to be more left-wing than the Republican Party but more right-wing than the Democratic Party” sounds pretty rational to me.

I was much taken with this table, which was brought to my laptop by the astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, one of the greats among popularising scientists, a wise and thoughtful man with a playful sense of humour and a love of fine wine (as they say over there, what’s not to like?). Tracing it back, however, it was originally compiled from data published at 24/7 Wall St.:

Kudos to Nevada, though, for defying the trend!
