Don’t not never do this, not at all

Yes, today we address the matter of the double-negative.

sudafed 1

Last year,McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a division of Johnson & Johnson and the makers of Sudafed, had to recall 660,000 packages of the drug. The reason is here:

sudafed 2

So, according to this you simply must divide, crush, chew or dissolve your Sudafed. This can’t be safely left to people’s common sense to see through the idiocy, and behave responsibly. Consider how stupid the average person is, and then realise that 50% of people are even more stupid than that!

You have to ask yourself how and why this error managed to creep into the public domain. Never mind the slipshod copy-editing. Surely they had standardised boilerplate text which could simply be cut’n’pasted onto each batch. Clearly not in this case, though, with the inevitable consequence of cost, supply problems, inconvenience, corporate embarrassment – and providing me with a cheap and easy laugh at their expense on a cold, wet Friday. Have a great weekend, everyone.
